In 1985, J. Ronald Knight founded the company that would become Knight Erosion Control, Inc. when he saw a need for slope protection in the rapidly developing Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Although the original concept for this type of slope protection system came from the Seabees during World War II, Ron refined the process, adapted it for North Texas applications and began calling it R-Rap.
During the later part of the eighties, he slowly grew his company by doing a few dozen walls each year and constantly meeting with engineers, architects and commercial developers explaining how this process will outperform almost any other application. His diligence paid off and in 1990 he incorporated as Knight Erosion Control, Inc. By 1992 he was doing over 100 walls each year including ones at the golf courses at Colonial, Prestonwood and Las Colinas. In 1997 Carl Hergesell joined the company after retiring from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel and is now President while Ron remains actively involved in the company.
Knight Erosion Control, Inc. has now completed over 1500 R-Rap walls which are protecting valuable real estate throughout the Metroplex and all over North Texas. |
